Commodore’s Comment

As the Christmas period is upon us may Julie and I take this opportunity to wish all our Members and Friends a Merry Christmas and a very Happy and Prosperous New Year. With the hope, of course, that 2003, weather wise, will be a whole lot better!

Next year promises to be a very busy one for the Club, as you will see from Jim’s Sailing Calendar elsewhere in JIBSHEET. The support for events from the Members this year was phenomenal, hopefully next year will be every bit as good. So if you have any sort of expertise, or even just a willing pair of hands to offer, you can be sure any offer of help will be very much appreciated.

The AGM also looms large. As a Member you are entitled to attend; indeed I would encourage you to attend, as it is your best opportunity to voice your opinion and to influence how the Club is managed and run. As Plato said: “Those who do not involve themselves in Politics

end up being governed by their inferiors!”

Member’s responsibilities for their guests

Most of us bring guests into the Clubhouse from time to tune and as such we are very glad to have the opportunity to show our Club off to a new face. Whether they coming in for a drink and a chat, for a meal or attending one of the many functions,

they must be signed in.

That means filling in the Visitor’s Book and you, as the Member, countersigning it.

Remember, you are responsible for your Guest/s whilst they are on the Club Premises. This is a legal requirement and may lead to the Club being prosecuted if we fail to comply.

A Police spokesman was heard to say “What a pity, he never even got to find out who dun-it!!”.

Further details will be reported as they are revealed
