After many years as the Club’s Recognised Teaching Establishment (RTE) Principal Ray Calvin has decided to give up the position from Easter. Ray has given freely of his time and efforts to introduce many young people to boating. Time constraints in his current professional position have meant that he has felt for some time that he wanted to withdraw and make way for some one who could devote more time to Club training.
The Club has been very lucky in finding a replacement. Cohn Dc Fleury has returned to Carrickfergus to live and has agreed to take up the position as Principal. Cohn is a Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Senior Instructor and his daughter, Kate and son, Richard are both RYA Dinghy instructors.
Cohn has ideas for training both young people and adults at the Club and a meeting has been arranged for all interested parties on Wednesday 28th February at 7.3Opm in order that he can share these ideas.
Although the RYA has many courses covering every aspect of boating actIvity initially sail training and powerboat handling will be the most prominent.
If you are interested in learning to sail! handle a powerboat this is your opportunity to get started. The club has a small fleet of Topper sailing dinghies and also three motor boats.
Come along and share your aspirations.
