May I take this opportunity to thank all those who helped in whatever way to
make this years Regatta such a resounding success. Over eighty boats took part
in the racing with another twenty Topper dinghies racing in the morning. With
such good weather on the day it certainly was a spectacular sight. Many people
were involved in the event, Jim Massey and his helpers in the Hut, Graham Walton
and his Safety Crews, all the ladies who helped with the tea and sandwiches, and
of course the crews that made them (not forgetting Ian and the
"buns").
Denise and her Bar Staff who kept us well watered throughout the day and well
into the night and most importantly of all, the competitors, without whom all
the hard work would be for nothing. So once again thanks from Julie and myself
to everyone. To the competitors, keep competing, and make all the hard work
worthwhile!
Nigel & Julie Thompson
P.S.
The Club's Web-master, Stevie Atkinson, has put a large collection of
photographs from the day onto the Club site. So if you competed on the day
there's a good chance you'll find your photograph at: http://www.CarrickfergusSC.org/

A new look team of question masters but still the same ould craic!!
Look out for the posters in the Clubhouse.
We are still trying to accommodate the various requirements for boat/trailer/gear storage. Dry sailing brings it's own accessibility needs. The use of the Car Park perimeter has eased the Boat Park confinement and is under review.
This years prize for the best kept trailer and space was won by Hazel and Joe Kerr (Hocus Pocus) and they look forward to - No Boat Park Fee!!
Identification of some trailers is still a problem. For storage to operate smoothly we need the cooperation of all users and their consideration for other users. A few broken trailers are a problem when they are required to be moved for access, so please help. We continually accommodate on a scratch your back system, Sea Cadets, Sailability, Marina and Boat Yard.
For assistance, keys and space allocation kindly contact Sam Penney 028 9336 1349, who is never too far away.
The Bad news - Storage accounts are on the move, with many already paid. As from 1st October, 2002 all space will be charged at 55p per sq. ft. This includes dinghies and these accounts will follow in December.
To assist in space allocation, new application forms are required detailing approximately period of year for either boat or trailer.

Tuesday evenings, interested? Add your name to the list behind the Bar
Probably the best event on the Sailing Calendar! The best days- fun on a Topper you will ever have. A series of knockout races followed by a Grand Final, Judging, Speeches and a sumptuous Prize Giving. Entry Forms and details from Neil Harper or Ian Patterson. International Fat Boy Topper Racing Rules will apply!
The dinghies enjoyed keen competition on Wednesday evenings and are continuing to race on Saturday mornings. Many thanks to Colin de Fleury and his team who have not only raised the sailing standard of junior members but have given them the confidence to travel to other events - Laugh Erne, Donaghadee, East Down etc. Some dads are a terrific help and any assistance is greatly appreciated, on shore, on the water and with transportation.
Up to 12 Toppers travelling could not be achieved without the use of the Stacker trailer lent by our Commodore.
Join the fun and buy a Topper for Christmas, they are almost indestructible!!!
