RNLI Buckingham Palace Garden Party

On 24th May 2024, Buckingham Palace celebrated the RNLI’s 200th Anniversary by hosting a spectacular garden party solely for RNLI volunteers and supporters.

CSC members Wendy Grant, Tom Robinson and Geraldine Duggan were invited to the garden party, having just received their 20 years’ service medals for their support of the RNLI as members of the Carrickfergus and Whitehead Fundraising Branch.  The Branch, based at CSC, continues to raise much needed funds for the RNLI by hosting numerous events and collections each year.  The Branch is always keen to welcome new members to help support the work of the RNLI.

Unfortunately, Tom was unable to attend, however, Wendy and Geraldine were delighted to represent the Branch at the Buckingham Palace Garden Party.  The sun shone brightly and a silver band entertained the many RNLI volunteers from across the UK and Ireland who mingled excitedly on the perfectly manicured lawns.

The President of the RNLI, the Duke of Kent and the Princess Royal spent quite some time chatting to the assembled crowd which was appreciated by all.  Tea, finger sandwiches and fancies were available throughout the afternoon from the many marquees.  The whole event was exceptionally enjoyable and the weather was very kind.

The RNLI is a charity founded upon and driven by values of selflessness, courage, dependability and trustworthiness, with volunteers at its heart.   The Club is proud to support the RNLI by facilitating the important work of the Carrickfergus and Whitehead Fundraising Branch and hosting fundraising events for the charity which is dear to us all.

We are also delighted that the fundraising work of our three members over the past 20 years has been rightly recognised.  Congratulations to Wendy, Tom & Geraldine.
