Lagan Cruise – Sat 27th April 2024


The 2024 Lagan cruise takes place on 27th April. Please note that we do need names & numbers in advance so we can make bookings.
Itinerary
0930 Depart Marina
1030 Assemble in vicinity of no 13 channel marker ‘Sublime’ will radio Belfast VTS for clearance for the fleet to enter channel
1130 Tie up, Belfast Harbour Marina, transfer to small boats.
1200 Small boats assemble below weir to await opening
1215 Proceed over weir, in procession, led by ‘Sublime’.  Travel up as far as Stranmillis Weir, then return downstream to Belfast Harbour Marina.
1430 Arrive Belfast Harbour Marina, Go ashore to Dock Café. You can buy hot food in Spar or Pizza restaurant, or bring your own food, and take it into the Dock Café. The Dock Café will give us coffee, scones etc. and seating to have our food.
1545 Return to boats.
1600 Await clearance to proceed down Channel
Leave Channel at mark 13, taking care crossing the channel and proceed to Carrickfergus

1 As this is a Club event, lifejackets/buoyancy aids should be worn
2 We use VHF channel 8 as working channel, and Ch12 within the harbour: note Ch12 is only for communication with port control. Inter boat communication is on Ch8 (although we may need to change).
3 HWB 1359 BST
4 We may not enter Victoria Channel without clearance, and should do so as a fleet.  Note: shallow water beyond Channel Marker 13 outside channel.
5 There are rowing races on the River Lagan on this day. Row boats have priority and must be passed dead slow. Hence Sublime will lead the procession of boats and will slow down when row boats appear.
6 The speed limit on the River Lagan is 10km/h (approx. 5.5kt).
7 We need to apprise Harbour Control when the last vessel has left the harbour.
8 All vessels must have their own insurance
9 First aid kits should be carried.
10 While information is given in good faith, safe pilotage of vessels is the skipper’s sole responsibility

The cost is £5 per person, for berthing at Belfast Harbour Marina & a contribution to club boat fuel, Plus £5 donation to Dock Café for their coffee/hospitality etc.
